With 122 hectares of vines, Chalice Bridge is one of the largest single planted vineyards in the Margaret River wine region. Nestled in the cooler southern part of the Margaret River wine region, Rosa Glen is towards the southern half of the peninsula bounded by Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin. It is here that the six main varieties of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are grown on the Chalice Bridge vineyard.
The harvest at Chalice Bridge can be 2-3 weeks later than the northern areas of Margaret River, allowing the development of greater intensity and complexity in the wines. This later harvest period also produces clear varietal and regional characters in the Chalice Bridge wines with unique and seldom seen varietal characters also coming through.
The vineyard provides breathtaking views across vine laden hillsides and spectacular national forest, with the undulating terrain providing a magnificent backdrop for growing superior quality fruit.

Climate
The first element needed to produce this superior quality fruit is climate. The influence of the cool winds off the Great Southern Ocean to the south, and the Indian Ocean prevailing to the west, are a dominant climatic feature of this area of the Margaret River wine region. The cool summer nights, cool autumns and large variation in daytime to night time temperatures means that the Chalice Bridge vineyard is technically rated as a cool climate vineyard…and therefore a great place to produce fantastic quality wines. |

Soil and Water
The second element needed is soil quality. Margaret River is blessed with well drained, gravelly, loamy soils which are ideal for growing high quality grapes. The soil at Chalice Bridge is typical of the Margaret River region, and combined with the ideal climate, enable Chalice Bridge to produce outstanding grapes for super premium wine production.
A clean and reliable water source is the third element, and Chalice Bridge has two large storage dams with a 160 mega litre capacity, providing more than sufficient water for summer irrigation. |

Winemaker (Consultant )
The final, crucial element needed for producing great wine is the winemaker. Chalice Bridge is proud to have Bob Cartwright as their consultant winemaker. Bob Cartwright has a worldwide reputation for producing super premium wines, and now, in his 30th vintage, is a master winemaker who imparts all his vast experience and expertise into crafting Chalice Bridge wines.
